PORGY — THE ANGEL - An original character by Ana Trkulja
Porgy is a whimsical, luminous angelic character created in 2017 by filmmaker and writer Ana Trkulja.
Born from a blend of humour, melancholy, and magical realism, Porgy inhabits a world where innocence meets cosmic mischief, and where the smallest, strangest beings can carry the greatest light.
Porgy is not the perfect angel.
He is the honest one — curious, playful, and sometimes too adventurous for the quiet halls of Heaven.
His wings are a little uneven. His ears are a little too big. His heart glows in colours instead of beats.
He jokes, he creates chaos, and he falls… a lot.
And yet, he is loved precisely because he is flawed, tender, and unmistakably alive.
Origins & appearances
– Concept and original story developed in 2017
– First drawings and e-mails titled “Porgy – the angel / the girl in the train” (2017)
– New visual designs and illustrations created from 2018 onward
– 2025: Porgy returns in a new series of drawings and stories, including the grumpy balloon-flight angel above
Porgy’s world is growing: illustrations, short stories, and future animation / book projects are currently in development.
